Susan Donaghey, MD, a successful internist in Murfreesboro, Tenn., began providing aesthetic services to complete her continuum of care. She believes her experience in internal medicine combined with aesthetics offers patients something different: "We can take care of the whole body- inside and out," she says.
Dr. Donaghey believes the way you feel about your appearance can really attribute to your health.
"It 's really a common sense thing," she says. "If you're confident with your appearance, you're more likely to care for yourself properly...work out, eat right. It seemed only natural that I would offer services that can motivate patients to take control of their health.
"I also enjoy the artistic side of aesthetics. Each face is like a blank canvas, and I must know how to use my tools to make each beautiful. It is so rewarding to see patients leave with a newfound confidence."
A native of New Orleans, Dr. Donaghey graduated from Louisiana State University Medical School. She was honored with The Harry Emerson Dascomb, MD, award in Infectious Disease. She then completed a residency in internal medicine at the world-renowned Louisiana State University Charity Hospital.
While in Louisiana, Dr. Donaghey grew a private practice to nearly 4,000 patients, but after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans, outstanding schools and tremendous economic growth led her to Murfreesboro, Tenn. Her practice has been very successful in its new home, where she also serves as co-medical director for NHC Rehabilitation.
In her spare time, Dr. Donaghey enjoys reading, gardening and scrapbooking. She and her husband have two children: Stephen, 5, and Elizabeth, 4.
